Link for the day: Pearls before breakfast. An interesting social experiment done by the Washington Post. It's long, but I'd love to hear what you think about this!

Here's my climbing gear. I'm all set now. Just need to figure out a time for lessons! Is there anything you've thought about trying or learning to do?

I stumbled across that Pearls before Breakfast link on Miss Snark's blog... amazing, isn't it? I have to admit, I'm always too self-conscious to stare at someone doing something like that, but I love violin music. I probably would have hung out in a corner somewhere and watched.

Interesting, though, isn't it?

I used to want to take riding lessons and become a world class equestrienne, but those days are long gone. :)

Wow, that article was scarey. That so many could walk by and not even notice the beautiful music he was obviously playing! I know I would have stopped and because I know I would have had my kids with me, I would have stayed for a while.

As for trying or learning something new? Well, I'll have to think on that one.
Have a great day!

Marianne - I used to live in SF. I could spend an afternoon listening to street musicians. I remember being in Europe, Metro or the Tube, and listening to the most amazing guitarist. I stood mesmerized for the longest time. For me it's all about taking the time to step out of ourselves and our busy lives of doing and just being for a moment. Appreciating the beauty that we might walk by otherwise whether its a brilliant violinist, a masterpiece painting or even a single flower that just bloomed.

Tori - Wouldn't that be amazing? And win a gold medal, too! I took riding lessons when I was younger. Loved, loved horses. But my mom didn't like horses, was scared of them, and when I got thrown and almost stepped on by a huge stallion that was the end of my riding. Now that I'm older I've ridden a few times. In Arizona I did a pack ride. That was so much fun.

Brandy - I hope I would have stopped. That's what I'd like to believe I would do. But again, I remember trying to get to work on time, a million things on my mind, and not really noticing what was around me. Of course with kids you would stop. Wonder where they had to go that they couldn't let their little ones enjoy the music for a minute.

It's an all "it depends" question. Like you said, if I were on the way to work, I regretfully wouldn't stop. But if I had time - then yes.

I've always thought about writing - so now I'm finally doing it. I've taken the piano lessons, the voice lessons, etc.

Good luck with the writing, Bailey! I think a lot of writers start out with the thought and then something pushes to actually sit down and do it. I never planned on being a writer at all!

Cool on the voice and piano lessons. I played clarinet through college, but the one thing I wish I could do is sing. Not an ounce of talent in that area unfortunately.
