We ended up seeing the Electrical Parade again. We were fortunate to get reserved seating from the hotel! Once again Rose was enthralled. The best part, Sneezy came up to her during the parade. He touched her head and made her feel like the most important little girl there. She just beamed.
Seriously the best birthday ever.
At the Happiest Birthday Party on Earth earlier in the afternoon, Pat E. Cake led cake decorating and a conga line around the Plaza Inn. Even Mickey and Minnie showed up!
After our break in the room, we ate dinner at the Rain Forest Cafe. We rode Soarin' California before watching the parade. Once again, Rose thought it was all real. She kept lifting her feet to keep them from hitting something. Seeing what Disneyland has to offer through the eyes of a child really is something special. I guess I'd forgotten what it was like the first couple of times we went with the kidlets. Not surprising since for Mackenna's birthday trip, I had a couple month old baby. For Finn's birthday trip, she was two. I'm sure both times, I was exhausted!
But this time, I'm not so tired. No deadline looming. Nothing to keep from enjoying each and every minute. And it truly has been magical.
I can't help but remember when I was a kid, living in Cypress not too far away from Anaheim, and being dropped at the gate when I was in third and fourth grade. (Not that I could ever imagine doing that with my own kids who are that age, but it was a different time back in the seventies.) I remember wanting to live at Disneyland back then. It's fun to hear my kids say some of the same things I did.
After the Electrical Parade, we headed back to Disneyland. Space Mountain was down so we rode Buzz Lightyear instead. We then headed to It's a Small World since it's closing tomorrow for refurbishment. As we were getting off the ride, the lights went out and the fireworks started going off. Seeing them from the other side of the castle was neat. We took advantage of the show to hop on the Matterhorn. As we were riding the bobsleds, fireworks were going off. Very cool to experience it that way.
As the show ended, we made our way to Space Mountain. The last two visits in 2003 and 2005, the ride had been closed. The only time hubby had ever been to Disneyland before that, the ride was just being built so he'd never been on it. Four of us loved the ride. It was a little much for Rose. But the refurb they did is very cool and I loved the ride. Not that I didn't love it before, but I'm sure it was showing it's age which is why they made all the changes. The kids especially liked the music being played. Rose didn't say much, but wanted to be carried out. I did, even though it meant a flight of stairs. Quite the workout.
Speaking of workouts, I actually did a Crossfit workout this morning. One of the traveling one's from the blog I mentioned. I did 5 rounds of 25 squats. It took me 5 minutes. Not much but something! Wish I could say the same about my writing.
But I did find new muse for my prince book. And I must say, he's perfect! He was on the cover of the USA Today that was delivered to my room this morning. I had no who idea, but I just stared at his picture and felt my heart melt. Yep. Definitely hero worthy.
His name is Ben Barnes. He's 26 and as they said in the paper...wow. You must google him. He's just my type. Long dark hair, gorgeous. He is even going to play Prince Caspian in the next installment of Narnia. Yep, the perfect Prince Hottie. What more could you ask for a hero?
You know what I've been up to these past few days. What about you?

Glad to hear Rose is having a good time. I'm sure she'll have many happy memories from your trip, as will all the kids. *g*
Not much going on here.
Have a great time!
I have a sick 16 year old son. Not fun of course I'm convinced that it was because he walked home on Sunday in the 20 degree weather with just a hoodie and shorts and socks and shoes.
Thanks Brandy! I hope she has memories. I'm amazed at what the older two don't remember from the last trip.
Oh, Bethre. I'm so sorry. Sick kids are no fun. Why do boys do that? Even my hubby wears shorts in that weather. I just don't understand. Hope he's feeling better soon!
I grew up in SoCal... Disneyland felt like my back yard. I'm so glad you guys are having fun. As far as memories go, they will remember what is significant to them.
We dragged kidlet #1 all over Slovenia when he was almost 5 (and kidlet #2 was still months-old), but all he remembers is the ice caves and the train ride (and with the amount of time we spent sight-seeing and visiting people, there was plenty more to choose from). I remember the guy who made his own plum brandy and how I couldn't get any ice in my drinks. And that kidlet #2 learned to roll over at Oma's house. So it's all a matter of perspective.
Bethre: Sorry about the sick kid. That is No Fun.
Kidlet #2 has been throwing up on a regular half-hour schedule since 11:30 last night. He, too, took a hefty walk in the bitter cold (in the 20s and 30s and dry with a wind) with no jacket and in appropriate clothing the day before.
Monday was my birthday. I spent the morning at the dentist and the afternoon at the bookstore finding a CSS for Dummies books so kidlet #1 and I can mess around with the template we're using for my website (which should be up in a week....gymnastics and the Deb Dixon workshop has kept us slightly busier than expected). But I think I grabbed the wrong book and need to go back. To a Book Store. Darn.
Space Mountain was the first roller coaster I ever rode! We LOL'd about the "chocolate chip cookies" (the planets they have on the ride).
Sounds like you're having a fabulous time.
And, I looked up Ben Barnes on IMdB -- too bad the first two pix I found were of him smoking, cuz when I finally found one of him as Caspian, I have to agree -- he's a hottie.
Unfortunately, he's a smoking hottie, not just smoking hot.
I can NOT believe you're exercising on your vacation.
Ben Barnes is very dishy! Even though he's too old to play Prince Caspian in Prince Caspian (he's supposed to be a little kid in that one!). But I'll cope. *g*
I'm glad that you all are having a good time.
sorry son is sick Bethre. I hope he's feeling better soon.
Happy Birthday Amy.
Ben is cute.
I've been traveling and now I'm home and so very tired.
The first Ben Barnes that I found is 69 hahahahaha. Luckily I found the one you were talking about and I'm sure he'll make a great prince.
I'm sure Rose will have some wonderful memories!!
I had never heard of Ben Barnes...
I have been working hard in the hospital and can't believe christmas was only a month ago... seems like a year for me!
Amy - Wow. What a way to spend your birthday. Yikes. What Deb Dixon workshop? Your son, too? Hope he's feeling better by now!
Marianne - he smokes? I'm going to pretend he doesn't. I've only seen the pics of him in the paper. He was in his princely attire. Sigh...
And yep, I remember that Space Mountain. It has really changed since then!
Tori - LOL on coping with this Prince Caspian!
Feel better, Dru! Hugs!
LMAO, catslady. I didn't google him either. I guess there would be more than one Ben Barnes in the world!
Hang in there Nathalie! Christmas does seem like a long time ago though.
Thanks Melissa... sounds like so much fun!
