Kidless and Carefree

Yesterday I had a bunch of appointments and things to do so I only opened my iBook long enough to get directions for where I needed to be at 9 am. No blogging, writing, blog hopping, anything. It was an unexpected, but not unwelcome break!

Last night was the Epiphany pageant and my class of 4-5 year olds did awesome singing Silent Night in front of everyone. We all met for a slice of King's Cake afterwards. My mom drove up to attend and took the kids back with her so hubby and I have the house to ourselves until Sunday. Well, the three cats are still here, and one woke me up this morning pretty early. Both are staring at the bedroom door right now waiting for hubby to feed them breakfast. That's normally the kids' job.

Continuing on our nightly DVD viewing, we watched Blades of Glory last night. Absolutely hilarious, especially if you've ever followed figure skating. Even if you hadn't, it would be hard to watch that movie and not laugh. It's totally inappropriate for children though.

My book order from Amazon arrived. I'd ordered a writing craft book by John Truby, a birthday present for my oldest who'll turn nine in March and one of my own books. I wanted to see how the ranking would jump for Win, Lose or...Wed with one sale. About 300,000 spots.

We dropped my daughter's Irish dance solo dress off to be altered. Good thing we waited until now. She's grown a lot since October! A dress designer, Alison Thrasher, creates some of the most gorgeous solo irish dance dresses around and we feel lucky she could altar Mackenna's dress that was made by a UK designer. The crown is too big and the headband a little tight so I'm going to attempt to make a new headpiece for the dress myself. Fingers crossed I can do it!

I have no idea what we are going to do today. It's nice not to have plans for once. What do you have going on?

Yay on finding someone to alter the dress. One less thing to worry about.

The Truby book sounds great! It will be going into my next Amazon order. I love writing craft books. I just finished Hallie Ephron's Writing and Selling Your Mystery Novel and Christina Katz's Writer Mama.

Enjoy the "alone time" this weekend. I don't think you ever appreciate "just the two of you" until you have kids.

This weekend is painting kidlet #2's desk for my office since he's back to home school and wants to work near me. Then it's scheduling out my projects for the year and setting up my blog/website.

I hope to start reading the truby book today. It's called The Anatomy of Storytelling if I remember correctly.

Good luck with the desk paining. #2 is back to being homeschooled???? When did that happen?

Also, Suzanne McMinn has a great site on blogging. I can't remember what it is. Something dandelion. But if you go to her blog, she's got a link.

Good luck with everything, Amy! And we should schedule in a time to meet for coffee or something!

I've been reading Suzanne's site. It's great. Between that and the WordPress stuff at accessromance.com, I've gotten a lot. I'll use my b-i-l to help me tweak and to explain things when I get lost, but I'm hopeful this will all work out.

Kidlet #2 was pulled December 17 (so the holiday made a nice breaking point). His teacher this year was Not A Good Match and he was bored out of his mind. He will still go for TAG and PE so he can be with his friends a few times a week.

Coffee sounds great! We'll have to find a place halfway between us.

I spent the day with my mother who just from North Carolina. We had a good time and watched Hairspray.

Thanks for the recap on Blades of Glory - I didn't know what kind of movie it was so now I'm adding it to my list.

Enjoy your "alone" time with hubby.

Have a good weekend.

Woooo! Alone time with the hubby! What's that like again? *G* I'm glad your pageant went well last night. I am sure your little ones did great. Good news on the dress altering. I hope everything works out well.
Have a wonderful evening with the hubs!

Good luck remaking the head piece! I love it when book orders come - there's just this air of excitement. Today, I procrastinated and didn't do a lot of the work I was supposed to :-X. I also had a fight, which I lost with the printer.

Shopping is fun, Nathalie, but tiring. Hope you found some real bargains!
