Between hubby's travel schedule, kidlets being sick and me being sick, I haven't been doing a lot of Crossfit. I've still been climbing once or twice a week and working out in the weight room, but that's just not the same. I've really missed the WOD (workout of the day) and Crossfit in general. So...
This morning I started working out again with Nichole, my awesome kick-ass trainer who introduced me to all things Crossfit back in October. She's at a different gym now. It's where we take the kidlets to Crossfit Kids twice a week. And it's pretty hard core.
Needless to say, I'm dying right now.
Ouch.
We ran. Yep, ran. Okay, jogged, but that counts as running in my book. At each corner she had me do squats or good mornings. We did a 440 meter run so I could see that route, then a 400 meter run so I could see that route. We went inside for sit ups and more squats. A few pass throughs (I think that's what they are called) with a PVC pipe, too. And then goblet squats (holding weight in front of my chest.) We went over the shoulder press since I hadn't done those in a while. It was a 35 pound bar. That's the most weight I've ever pressed and it was really hard!
Then it was time for my workout of the day. She said she wouldn't time me because I was already tired. Thank goodness!
Workout:
Sprint (to dumpster and back)
10 Goblet squats
10 air squats
15 Box steps (huge box. She asked if I wanted to jump. Gave it a shot and said I wanted to step.)
Nichole was going to add shoulder presses with dumbbells but I think she realized that truly would have killed me.
It doesn't really sound like much, but it was. I managed two rounds. I was supposed to go three. I'm happy for two since I was ready to stop after one! Hard core, I am not. Just call me a big softie.
So I'm in really bad shape after doing very little exercise since March, but not as bad a shape as when I started back in October. The question is how sore will I be later today and tomorrow. And how will I do with our workouts on Thursday and Friday. Should be interesting!
Have you been doing anything physical lately?

Welcome back Melissa. It will hurt... but thats how you know it's working. Get some!
You will hurt, but then you won't. In the meantime
{{{Very Gentle Hugs}}}
9 and I walk the dog every day. 40 minutes. About 2 miles. And then there's all the running up and down the stairs, hauling laundry, boxes, groceries....okay, so no, that isn't really exercise, is it?
Oh, ouch.
I've been gardening (!) and I take the dog for a two mile bike ride twice a day, though I may have to cut back to one for a bit because my knee is killing me.
I walk her, too, but only about half a mile because she still pulls so much I get cranky.
I should do more. I had PLANNED to do more. If the dog was leash trained I WOULD do more. **sigh**
Good for you, tho. Keep it up!
You jog/ran before you did the exercise? I'm tired just reading that part. Once you get your exercise routine back, you won't be tired so quickly.
Taking at least 9,000 steps per day and I continue to increase tha number as long as it doesn't rain.
Today we took a nice long stroll up to 55th Street and Fifth Ave.
Awww, more gentle hugs from me.
As of this week I am back to 2 Yoga classes a week, not to mention working out on the treadmill at least 2x a week and hand weights that I added last week. In another month Chris will be going back to the Y daily and I'll be able to add a bit of weight training. Not much, but it's still enough for me! And like Amy, that's on top of all the household stuff. The funny part is, we bought a 2 story house on purpose. *G*
I hope you're having a good, if not sore, day!
How are you feeling? I hope a little better. {{{{Melissa}}}}
I'm such a lazy butt - my fingers get the most exercize lol. I bowl, play darts and now bocce but none of those gets the heart racing. I'm hoping to get to my gardening soon and that should help some. I think it's wonderful how much you do!
Wow... you are back to rigorous exercise. Congrats!
I should really start to get back in shape, however, I am now trying taking the steps and not the elevator... so it is a good start!
Good for you! I wish I had your determination.....Cindi
Thanks all! Appreciate the hugs. I'm tired but not that sore right now. I'm sure tomorrow will be different!
Hey, cutie! Thanks for stopping by. I have to keep remembering hurt=working.
Amy - you're doing a lot! Good job.
Marianne - hugs on your knee. Bike riding is good exercise. Hope the leash training happens quickly.
Dru - yay on all the steps! Looking forward to seeing that number go up!
Catslady - hope you can get gardening soon!
Nathalie - yay on taking the steps. Avoid the elevator as much as possible except at the end of your shifts. You must be exhausted by then!
Windycindy - I don't know if I'd call it determination. I just miss it when I don't workout.
Wow, I'm inspired. I've got to admit I've not exercised properly in too long. I've tilled, raked and rowed but as far as formal exercise? Um...nope. But today's the day I'll begin again. Dust off the treadmill and just go for it. Thanks for the little push! I needed it.
Hope your soreness is gone by now. :)
Go Sarita!
The only thing that's sore are the muscles in my upper back, right above where my bra strap would be. My legs feel a little tight, but I managed a jog with Chaos this morning without any problem. I'm still waiting to see if I'm climbing or not. This is our normal day. That might be a little interesting with sore muscles. Might have to stay on the slab wall today and not to anything with an overhang!
I have to say I am trying to do some walks outside, when the weather is nice.
