I lost count of the number of stuffed animals I bought that looked like my cats. I guess a part of me felt after we'd had them spayed and neutered that they still needed a baby of some sorts. Nope. They wanted nothing to do with their stuffed toys, but the kidlets have enjoyed them.
But the cats still managed to form special attachments to things, especially Rocket.
Rocket loves rat-rats. These are those little mice you buy in packs of six. We nicknamed them rat-rats. They are fur-covered with little tails. Rocket will play with these things for hours. He'll carry his favorite one in his mouth around the house and sleep with it. In our old house, I would find him sitting in front of the stove. This was my sign to get the fly swatter and dig out the rat-rats that had gotten stuck underneath.
He also has an affinity for things that play music. I was watching QVC when a singing Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer was being sold. The cat sat in front of the TV and watched, captivated. He even went so far as to rub his neck against the screen. I, of course, ordered one for him right away. And yes, he loved it. The kidlets think it's theirs, but even though Rudolph stopped singing a few years ago I still tell them nope, Rudolph belongs to Rocket.
Spirit prefers anything she can chase whether it be a laser pointer, feathers on string, mouse on string, tape measure. Her favorite plaything is me. She will sit on the stairs and meow if I'm away from her for too long. Right now, there's a kidlet-sized bistro chair sitting next to my chair where I write. Spirit sits there so she can be close to me. She's not happy I'm no longer living at my computer!
Smalls likes anything that gives her interaction with us. She lived outside on her own for so long, I don't think she really understands the concept of toys. But she does like to chase things like Spirit.
Three different cats, three different personalities. Just like my kids!
Hope you have a great Tuesday!

Interesting how different they are. Patches isn't really into toys, too much exercise lol. She prefers to sleep on top of a comfy pillow on my bed thankyouverymuch.
I have a catnip filled leopard mouse that Pirata will play with (and my sister's dog Squeaky loves that toy, perfect size for her lol). Pirata loves boxes. When I was packing to move she was in heaven jumping into different boxes.
Neither of the dogs play with toys. I have a big basket of them but they only get played with when Squeaky comes over lol.
Each of our kitties is different as well and have their own personalities. I guess that's why we love them all so much. I think it's sweet that you bought your kitty a musical Rudolph!
The favored toys here are the laser pointer, the "birdie" and small mice made by wrapping thread around a form filled with a little rattle thing inside. THAT last one is Butterscotch and Peppers favorite. Midnight lights to play with the safety plugs. *G*
I hope you have a pleasing day!
I have 6 and yep they're all different but I found this strange - I have a 12 year old cat that loved a small round, soft ball (we call it a puff ball). He would carry it around in his month and meow at the same time (I guess pretending it was a mouse maybe). Now that he's older he doesn't do it anymore. But one of my younger cats does it now just like he use to but she never was around when he did it lol.
My current cat is fat and lazy, but loves catnip toys. She rolls around on them and drools, lol.
I had a cat who played fetch -- he loved those plastic mesh balls with the bells inside and would bring them to me to throw and he'd fetch them. When he started doing it in the middle of the night, though, it wasn't nearly as cute.
Dakota (dog, not cat) can't have anything fuzzy. She uses her little front teeth and pulls off all the fur (even on tennis balls). Dork. Her favorite "toy" is junk mail. She tears it to pieces.
Silly critters!
